How We Work Together

  • Making the Invisible Visible: We name the subtle impact of microaggressions to reduce the "gaslighting" effect of systemic racism.

  • Processing the Past: We look at how early experiences of "othering" might still be affecting your confidence or mental health today.

  • Building Agency: We work to strengthen your ego-resilience, helping you move from a place of reacting to trauma to a place of living with intention and pride.

Racial Trauma & Microaggressions

In my practice, I use a psychodynamic lens to help you explore how the outside world—specifically systemic racism and the daily weight of micro aggressions—shapes your inner landscape. Racial trauma isn't just an external event; it often impacts the way we view ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we protect our hearts.

While traditional therapy often focuses solely on the individual, my approach recognises that your "inner world" is deeply influenced by the "outer world." Together, we will look at how systemic impact becomes internalised, often showing up as:

  • Internalised Narratives: Uncovering the "voices" or beliefs about yourself that may actually be reflections of societal bias rather than your true identity.

  • Relational Patterns: Exploring how past experiences of racial trauma might influence your current boundaries, trust, and sense of safety with others.

  • Unconscious Defences: Identifying the psychological tools you’ve developed to survive in a biased world—such as hyper-vigilance or emotional numbing—and deciding which ones still serve you and which ones you are ready to let go.

By bringing these unconscious patterns into the light, we can begin to separate your authentic self from the systemic pressures you've had to navigate. Our goal is to create a "holding space" where your experiences are validated, allowing you to reclaim your narrative and foster a sense of internal wholeness.
